Desktop Nerd is a small stationery and design project from Melbourne, Australia, built around fountain pens, ink, paper, journalling, analogue tools, and the strange little rituals that keep creative people vaguely functional.
No hype. No hustle. Just useful stationery, honest opinions, weird design projects, and the occasional questionable ink decision.
Run by Matt, a stationery nerd, creator, and recovering overthinker with too many pens and just enough self awareness to know that probably will not change.
What lives here?
Instagram is where most of the daily Desktop Nerd mess happens. Reels, ink tests, desk shots, product yaps, half-formed opinions, new arrivals, questionable lighting decisions, and whatever has taken over the desk before I’ve had a chance to clean it up properly.
This site is the slower side of things.
It is where the longer thoughts can sit still for a minute. Journal posts, product notes, useful links, downloads, stationery arguments, odd little resources, and future project bits that need more room than a caption and more shelf life than a disappearing square in the feed.
Not everything here will be polished to death. That would defeat the point. Some of it will be useful. Some of it will be opinionated. Some of it will probably be a little too specific for normal people. But if it belongs anywhere, it belongs here: in the drawer, under the good pen, next to the ink sample I forgot I owned.
